Newton has 3 thriving colts teams and has secured funding to equip all age groups with the latest training and playing equipment.

This, when coupled with the fact that we have eight E.C.B. qualified coaches/coaching assistants, should stand us in good stead for the future !!!

8th June 2007        Newton Tracey u15’s  Vs  North Devon u15’s                   

North Devon won the toss and decided to bat. Newton’s bowlers struggled to bowl down the right line as many drifted down leg side in very tough conditions. The opening batsmen C.Overton and T.Ansell fought well putting on a partnership of over a 100.

However a fine delivery by J.Crush forced an edge from C.Overton, with S.Southon comfortable taking it behind. Other opener T.Ansell fell soon after when he got caught of the bowling of Symons for 49. With two new batsmen at the crease J.Gordan and J.Overton. They battled on until a quick piece of thinking by S.Southon ran out helpless J.Gordan. Symons bowled J.Overton LBW in the last few overs to send him crying back to the pavilion. North Devon finished on 189.

S.Southon and C.Nash opened for Newton Tracey holding on, as quick bowler Ricky Kelly put in a few bouncers with his immense pace, however S.Southon changed his mood and started to attack, he hit a few 4’s in quick succession before getting stumped for 17 from the bowling of R.clarke. C.Nash also fell for 4 runs. O.Symons and K.Jerrett also put in a good performance with the bat knocking the spinners about. However Newton still lost by over 100 runs.

Man of the match- Sam Southon

 

24th may 2007               Newton Tracey u15’s  Vs  Filleigh u15’s                   

 

Filleigh won the toss and decided to bat. Their openers C.Poperwell and C.Wood set of with a bad start loosing a wicket on just the second ball, thanks to a stunning Yorker from M.Warren, clean bowling him. However the pick of the bowling went to J.Trick bowling 3 overs, taking bowling figures of 3-13. Other wickets went to R.Maynard, K.Jerrett and O.Symons with two. Filleigh finished on 119.

S.Southon went out to bat with C.Nash holding of the opening bowlers. S.Southon hit 21 runs of 15 balls before getting caught out and following C.Nash back to the pavilion. O.Symons fought till the end watching his batting partners going back to the pavilion in quick succession. However still lost only finishing on 67.

Man of the match- Jez Trick

 

2nd may 2007            Newton Tracey u15’s Vs Braunton u15’s                   

Braunton won the toss and decided to bat. Matt warren opened the bowling with Tom Binns, probably with the best spell of the day as Binns took an early wicket, bowling out R.Bullard with a great delivery taking out off stump. However B.Huxtable then came into the batting attack with South-West partner T.Mitcham. O.Symons, I.Cockwell, C.Nash, S.Southon, K.Jerrett and J.Crush all bowled and took a lot of stick from the two South-West batsmen. They ended up with a great total of 221-1 including a 200 partnership between Huxtable and Mitcham. Huxtable finished on 78 N.O as Mitcham finished on 118 N.O.

Newton put on a great fight with the bat surprisingly enough lost the match.
